Annie Yash
(Please be patient and read this noname, boring, long story about creative paths and ways and lanes)

Hey, I`m Annie Yash: singer, musician and songwriter. Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The legend says I first heard the Beatles "White Album" inside my mother's belly at the age of five months (I don`t know if you really needed this information, probably not).

My father is a keen enthusiast of vinyl collecting. I have spent my childhood traveling around the world, looking through the piles of vinyl records in small, dusty shops, waiting in cafes around the corner for my dad to find another Frank Zappa's record (God, he has many).

As a child, I was fond of D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers and used to sing along all the songs from the musical. I`ve began playing my first real guitar at age of ten, but abandoned it for a long time and dived into drawing.

In 2016 I`ve started a band "Hasty Brunch" with a friend, but later that year the friendship and the band fell apart leaving just a few demos. To play on my twenty third birthday I`ve started a new band called "Boring Story", but it also fell apart after three shows due to the lead guitarist leaving the country (stay with me, there`s just one more band without any records or evidence of existing).

In 2017, I`ve met Nik Bruskovsky the drummer and lead singer of "Super Collection Orchestra", who has a massive music and creative influence on me. Under this influence I`ve started a band number three, called "Soft Place", which was more successful live, but also fell apart in the end of 2021 due to creative disagreements (oh, people, can you just be stay calm and make music?).

On February 2022, after the Russian Government announced the special military operation, me and my friends, who stayed in the country decided to start a new (fourth) band, which would reflect the situation and feeling of people inside the country (but it become instrumental avantguard jazz band, so nothing about politics here). And (finally) here`s an album you can listen.

Due to previous experiences, I`ve also decided to start a solo project as Annie Yash to be more independent of circumstances and other people. The pseudonym is a short form of the last name Yashchenkova, which is too long to write in full.

My debut EP Pier Wheel was released on January 23, 2023. If you are still here a little further down the page you can listen to and read more information (Yes, I do love text).

Thanks for your attention and patience!

Pier Wheel (EP)

Pier Wheel (EP) is a short story concentrated mostly on the problem of growing up in the mad-mad world around us. Here is the mid-quarter crises, that is now so popular among millennials and at times makes you feel like another person, whom you`ve never met (Helen). Thoughts about ups and downs on the way to our dreams (Wrong Whole). An Effort to describe the atmosphere of living in the country, which is at war (Puppet room). This particular love-story, which we all once had, and which left us absolutely dead inside (78 steps). And this particular state of mind we had after, with all the blue devils and black dogs (Electricity).

But in the end there will be light. As the name "Pier Wheel" comes from childhood memory of traveling with the dad around West Coast. The sun, the ocean, warmth, happiness and light-heartedness. Pier Wheel as a sort of lighthouse in the dark waters of life. Now we need to become our own safe space.
